I've wondered about this as well. My mother wasn't obese or have high cholesterol, but she did contract Parkinson's and later, Alzheimer's--both neurological diseases.
My mother was born in 1907--and lead paint was certainly used in homes and various goods.
I also noted that she was a rather "nervous, anxious" type person and I wonder if that is a precursor.
There's still so much to learn about this disease--and hopefully the more we study its origins, we can use this information to determine a cure.
Meanwhile, caregivers and their loved ones need resources to continue care every day.
